Solar Technical Workshop

SOLAR TECHNICAL WORKSHOP From 21st to 24th March, 2011Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) hosted a four day Solar technical course, to deliberate on a vast variety of topics on Solar PV Design, technology, applications and development in India and abroad.

The workshop was successfully organized from 21st to 24th March, 2011 at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar. The purpose of the workshop was to provide in-depth knowledge of fundamental PV principles, selection of components and designing of various types of PV systems, PV design and analysis software, hands-on building of PV systems, visit and study of 1 megawatt PV power plant. The course included the entire solar value chain for managing the photovoltaic projects ranging from small stand-alone systems to kilowatt-sized rooftop systems to megawatt-sized power plants.

The workshop was attended by 34 participants, comprising of top management of companies, entrepreneurs working on Solar Energy systems or intending to enter into the Solar industry, from Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh. The technical course was conducted by experienced faculties working in the solar industry. The course was conducted in a participative mode along with various hands on demonstrations. It had a distinguish feature of site visit to a 1 MW Solar Power plant.

Looking at the current environmental conditions and the relevance, need for alternative energy sources, and the commitment to clean and renewable energy by the Govt. of Gujarat, the GERMI Training and Development Centre is intensively working on to develop such courses for the development of Solar Energy because today solar energy is quite easily the most popular alternative energy source and we believe it is just a matter of time before it becomes our primary means of energy in the world.

The GERMI Training & Development and Consultancy Division is proudly contributing to the growth of Solar Industry by advising and partnering with pilot and model projects like the 5 megawatt Gandhinagar Photovoltic Rooftop programme, 1 megawatt multi-technology demonstration PV power plant for GEDA, consultancy for 10 megawatt PV power plant and net-zero energy demonstration through rooftop PV installations.
