It gives us great pleasure informing you that the Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI) is conducting a 3-day Workshop on Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant Design and Installation in technical collaboration with National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education (NCPRE) at IIT Bombay. The workshop is scheduled on 21 - 23 February, 2012 at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

                           21 - 22 February, 2012. Two days of class room sessions
                           23 February, 2012. Site visit to solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant.

Course Contents:
The workshop would be conducted in a ‘participative mode’ wherein each session builds upon the other. Topics covered during the course duration are:

  • PV power plant components and systems basics
  • Site survey and solar potential evaluation
  • PV technology selection
  • Inverter technology selection
  • PV power plant system design
  • PV power evacuation and metering
  • PV power plant electrical design, installation, testing and commissioning
  • PV array structure design, construction and installation
  • PV power plant design and implementation due diligence
  • PV power plant case study - EPC experience
  • PV module field performance, plant monitoring and evaluation
  • Safety and quality standards, O &M and assessment of solar PV plants
  • PV power plant design and analysis software - PV Syst
  • Site visit to utility – scale Solar PV power plant at Gujarat Solar Park, Charanka

Key takeaways:
Upon attending this workshop, the successful participant will be able to make educated decisions for implementing solar photovoltaic power projects. He/she will be able to access site potential and suitability for establishing a plant, select various PV module, inverter and other technologies, appreciate the details for installing a solar power plant, theoretically deduce the plant performance and output, and ensure best practices in terms of safety and quality.

Who should attend:
This intensive technical workshop is designed to build capacities in organizations, private or government, academia and students working in the field of solar energy. This workshop targets SPV Power plant designers, Integrators, EPC staff, Installers, Testers and O&M staff.

The modules cover technical aspects related to SPV power plant design and implementation.

This workshop target technical audience with a basic understanding of PV modules, power conditioning components and grid connected PV power systems.

The workshop fee includes technical contents, participant kit, field visit; day time snacks and lunch for the course duration.

Payment towards the course fee can be made through demand draft / cheque drawn in favor of “Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute” payable at Gandhinagar. Bank transfer facility is also available.

Important Note (1): Participants are requested to plan their return journey on 24th February, 2012. As it would be late hours returning back from site on 23rd February, 2012.

Important Note (2): All participants are kindly requested to bring along a laptop computer as they will be taught a computer simulation programme in one of the sessions.

 A discount of 5% is available for groups of 3-5 people, and 10% discount is available for groups of 6 or more people.
