GERMI concluded a training course and initiated an e-course on Environment

The closing ceremony of training course and  launching of "Distance Learning e-course in Environmental Engineering". from (R-L), Prof. Dr. N. S. Varandani (Principle Research Scientist-GERMI), Shri N. C. Nanda (Geophysicist), Dr. B. K. Rastogi (Director General, ISR), Dr. T. Harinarayana (Director, GERMI), Shri P. H. Rao (Consultant-GERMI).

Gujarat Energy Research and management Institute (GERMI), Gandhinagar  organised a training course on "Fundamentals of Seismic data Interpretation and Evaluation", at PDPU campus, Gandhinagar recently for young Geoscientists working in OIL and Gas exploration.   The course instructor was Mr. N.C. Nanda a renowned explorationist who has more than 50 years of experience in Oil and Gas exploration. The course was attended by 28 young Geologists, Geophysicists, Petroleum Engineers and Geochemists from different Oil & Gas companies (BPCL, IOC, GSPCL) and AU and Cochin Universities. The course is aimed at helping young Geoscientist to understand the principles of Geology and Geophysics and to identify the evolution of a geological basin for oil exploration. The course was concluded recently and certificates were presented by Director-General, ISR Dr. Rastogi and GERMI Director Dr. T.Harinarayana presided over the function.

GERMI also ventured into Distance Learning through online short – term e-course in Environmental Engineering. A website www.germi-env-ecourses.org is also created for the purpose. The course is developed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. N. S. Varandani. This course has been divided into 3 modules. The duration of each module is 6 months leading to award of certificate. It is designed to provide brief description of the Wastewater treatment and step – by - step design of different units. The engineering drawing of the designed unit will be integral part of the course for easy understanding. The intension of GERMI is to reach out to the masses though Internet as it provides easy access, flexibility, review course material at one’s speed and time and be a part of an electronic community. The technological development has given new dimensions to the innovative trends in the field of education. Dr. B. K. Rastogi, Director General of ISR, has launched E – Learning portal. The applications are invited from 1st April 2014 and the course scheduled from 1st May 2014.
