ASME Authorized Training Programme


ASME Authorized Training Programme on B.31.8 and B.31.8.S

Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) who is an Authorized Training Provider (ATP) of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), organized two comprehensive training programmes on ASME B31.8 Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems from 07-08 March, 2011, and B31.8S Integrity, Management and Maintenance of Gas Pipelines from 10-11 March, 2011respectively for entry and intermediate level techno-management professionals from oil and gas industries both Private and Government. In order to have practical know-how, both the courses had a common field trip on March 09, 2011 to various work places being operated by Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL).

The course B31.8 covered the design, fabrication, installation, inspection, testing, and other safety aspects of operation and maintenance of gas transmission and distribution piping systems, including gas pipelines, gas compressor stations, gas metering and regulation stations, gas mains, and service lines up to the outlet of the customer’s meter set assembly.

The course B31.8S dealt with the standards applied to on-shore pipeline systems with all parts of physical facilities through which gas is transported, including pipe, valves, appurtenances attached to pipe, compressor units, metering stations, regulator stations, delivery stations, holders and fabricated assemblies.

The five days training programme where participants from Gujarat and other states participated was successfully delivered by ASME Authorized Training Instructors, one among the best in the country and having rich experience and expertise who successfully conducted and concluded both the courses.

The course was attended by a total of 32 participants - for both the courses - from organizations like Gujarat Gas Co. Ltd, GSPL, Veloci Certification Services (I) Pvt. Ltd, Essar Projects (I) Ltd., Punj Lloyd Ltd.,TDW India Ltd., Corrtech International Pvt. Ltd and others.
